Carlson Wireless Announces Installation Of A WiFi Network By Redwood Acres Fairgrounds

Press Release, Apr 03 2008

EUREKA, CA   Carlson Wireless, an Arcata-based wireless communications equipment manufacturer, has recently completed the installation of a wireless network at Redwood Acres Fairgrounds. Now, guests of Redwood Acres can access the internet through their laptops, free of charge.

High speed internet access was first requested by the Redwood Acres RV park. Staff at Redwood Acres realized the benefits of having wireless throughout the facility. “We host so many festivals, conferences and other events,” said Larry Ford, CEO of Redwood Acres. “Having high speed internet access at our facilities will help us to market to visitors that come to the area for events like the Jazz Festival.”

“This is a nation-wide trend,” said Jim Carlson, CEO of Carlson Wireless. “Many other local campgrounds, hotels and trailer parks have also expressed a strong interest in providing this type of internet amenity for their customers.”

Carlson technicians engineered the system using a combination of radios from Carlson’s Ethernet Bridge line. “The particular radios we chose to use for Redwood Acres are made especially for efficiently transmitting from a main source to nearby WiFi access points,” said Rob Escher, senior sales engineer at Carlson. The Turf Club, Vickers Building, Franceschi Building, and the RV Campground host these access points, which distribute a WiFi signal to surrounding areas.

“Carlson Wireless did a great job helping us design and install a system that meets our needs,” said Ford. Other Redwood Acres patrons will also benefit from the newly-installed system. The Banana Hut, a restaurant that calls Redwood Acres home year-round, has just started making internet access available to their customers.

Carlson Wireless has also installed area wide wireless internet connection in Rio Dell and Arcata. “Most of our product is sold out of the area,” said Carlson. “We’re always really happy to do this type of installation on the North Coast.”
